Following a thunderous discussion with friends at a conference recently, we decided with Bruno_to dig deeper into the idea of a conference, a discourse, on what we would like the culture of our companies to be, and particularly of their leaders since they are the biggest lever. Bruno started sending me links about conferences and conversations. Seeing them I thought again about my pet project: Living organizations. A text, a consolidation of a thought that I’ve been pursuing without enough effort for three years. It’s as much a consolidation of my old remarks or ideas thrown here as some new things. By relaunching this philosophical reflection Bruno inadvertently made but for my greatest benefit, this backlog, this inability to finish, unbearable. That’s why I told myself I had to call on you.
I’m going to share the draft of this text, you’re going to kick my butt, give me your feedback, or let me wander in the desert. But I will have taken one more step by opening this text in progress. I’m going to keep my ideas, I’m going to let you comment, those who wish to. Don’t hesitate to offend me, I won’t hesitate to tell you that I disagree. It remains my text, my ideas (or the consolidation of ideas in which I find myself, I try to always give my sources). Everything counts: ideas and mistakes, the form and the content, the signifier and the signified, you and me. I reserve the right to remove all comments that would be insults or similar sweet nothings.
I need your encouragement.
I’m going to make my point explicit and give an update on the progress of my (our ?) work in a dedicated page whose link you see in the column on the left.
The text updated as we go
Here is the link to the text in html format (Living organizations). I’m going to continue writing there as we go. It’s possible that in blocks I’ll add or suddenly correct a set of things: it’s just that I would work offline on the train, the best office in France due to the purring and isolation it provides when you don’t sink from fatigue into the adventures of Hannah, Reddington or some other Pablo.
Put your name or email in the comment if you want to appear in the contributors or so I can respond to you more personally.
I just converted the text from Latex to GoogleDoc, so I’m going to clean up a bit all this week and especially next week, but don’t hesitate to intervene in the meantime. For now it’s for the most courageous, I’m going to spend a few hours cleaning up, arranging. You’ll notice the empty chapters or sub-chapters. I need to do a major cleanup proofreading quickly.
Should I set myself a deadline?
I don’t dare anymore, I’ve seen myself fail too much on this subject regarding Living organizations. I’m moving forward in leaps and bounds thanks to David, Dragos, Lucie, Pauline, Rémy, Nicolas, Quentin, Daniel, Florent, Justine, Julien, etc etc and the other benexters (I can’t mention you all, but I want to) at beNext and it also takes a lot of time from me: School Of PO, Agile CFO, Wake Up Rh coming soon… My future conferences: the one with Bruno therefore, one with Laurent Morisseau for Lean Kanban FR, and a music duo to organize offstage with Alberto (for LKFR too), Gothamocratie to continue spreading. Not to mention my completely fragmented life between Paris and Sommières (between Nîmes and Montpellier), finding an apartment urgently this month (done!)… So I no longer make promises, to anyone.
