Parkinson’s Law… or the ideal gas law… states that “work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion”. Who in a classic project hasn’t experienced this strange phenomenon? Give a “developer” 3 days, they’ll consume the 3 days to complete their tasks, give them 10 days, they’ll use 10 days… Yes, we avoid this with Scrum by the way, or more broadly with agile, but did it need to be said?
